Museum of History & Holocaust Education is having its third annual 1940s Swing Dance Extravaganza featuring Big Band music by The Peachtree Jazz Edition. Jump Jive an’ Wail commemorates the 1940s era with dancing to a live 18-piece band, swing dance lessons, and refreshments from 7 to 10 p.m. in the Kennesaw State University Center. Dancers of all ages are encouraged, but not required, to wear 1940s attire.
Admission and parking are free. Attendees are encouraged to bring a suggested donation of one non-perishable item such as canned vegetables, oatmeal, peanut butter, or cereal. All proceeds go to “Feed the Future,” a KSU Health Clinic program that provides students with basic food necessities. The previous year’s swing dance brought in nearly five hundred visitors including British and American World War II veterans, university students, families from the local community, and dancers from the amateur skill level to the professional.
