20 Fun, practically free activities to do with your family:
  1. Free museum days
·        Target offers FREE Thursday’s at the High Museum each month from 10 – 7 PM
·        Bank of American card holders can visit over 150 museums FREE one pre set weekend per month
·        Get a family pass for about $100 a year to the Zoo, TN aquarium or High Museum
  1. National parks - over 400 parks never charge admission so go exploring, take a road trip
  2. REI offers FREE and inexpensive classes including bicycle maintenance (pre-register)
  3. Go camping, canoeing or take up geo caching
  4. The Picture Show movie theater in Marietta offers $.50 movies on Tuesdays and $1.25 - $1.75 movies the remainder of the week (excludes 3-D).  They have 6 theaters at that location.
  5. Home Depot has a FREE monthly class for children ages 3-12 to nail and glue a wood project
  6. Home Depot has several FREE Do-it-Herself classes each month (pre-register)
  7. Lowes has 2 FREE monthly classes (pre-register) for children 3- 12 years old to nail and glue a wood project
  8. Michaels Crafts offers weekly FREE classes in store for make and take projects for your children (check their ad)
  9. About every 3 months JoAnn’s Fabric offers a ½ price day. Register for any of their classes on that day and pay ½ price for any class.
  10. Lakeshore Learning Stores offer a FREE craft time each week for younger children
  11. Add to your calendar weekly Story times and Reading Clubs that are offered at most local libraries and local area bookstores
  12. Summer Movie series offer FREE or $1 movies weekday mornings through the summer
  13. Summer Concert series offer FREE outdoor concerts at local area parks. Most are weekday lunch hours, others are in the evening.
  14. Look for Val Pac coupons, Groupon’s or specials for other activities such as Mountasia, Bowling, Roller Skating or Paintball.  I know there are $1 skate nights and $ .99 bowling coupons good for up to 10 games.
  15. Go to the park and have a picnic.  Take the Frisbee and a blanket.
Add once a year activities to your calendar as you see them such as:
  1. Tree lighting ceremonies
  2. Atlanta Symphony Orchestra offers a FREE Christmas concert each year.
  3. Woodruff Arts Center offers a FREE family day once a year.
  4. I love FREE food. So in addition to Kids Eat FREE nights, Birthday Clubs, Chick-fil-A calendars, coupons, punch cards and our Restaurant.com certificates that we buy with a discount code, we make these family dates and add to our calendar:

  • Cold Stone free cone night
  • Rita’s offers FREE Rita’s ice on the First Day of Spring
  • Krispy Kreme’s FREE donut in appreciation of National Donut Day
